Feel Better, Swim Better, Swing Better – in 2011

It’s that time of year again. The trees are changing color and the weather is turning brisk. Children are getting tired of homework and tests, and camp staff can’t seem to get the alma mater out of their heads. Yes, it’s that time when we all catch the fever, – the “Countdown to Summer 2011” fever. Luckily, the CECBR crew can deliver the camp fix you need – and boy are we about to deliver.

What better way to celebrate summer than to make some music, beat to our own drum, rock out, jam out, OK, you get the picture. This summer we will see the recreation of our own EBR Rock Band, featuring a full line-up of acoustic and electric instruments along with expert instruction in guitar, piano and drums! Who knows – maybe you (yes you) could be the next big thing! Of course, Richie and Adam will be available as backup singers should you be looking for something different (very different).

“FORE!” – that was Scott practicing his golf game. It’s a work in progress but lucky for him (and you), he will have ample opportunity to practice in July & August! This summer will mark the return of an old favorite – the creation of our Golf Training Center! This multi-faceted complex will feature a professionally designed championship putting course, chipping green, and driving cages, complete with a sand trap!  Future plans include expansion into a full 300 yard driving range and short course for all of you Phil Mickelsons out there. Fathers everywhere just grew very jealous.

That’s not all, folks! We are renovating the Blue Ridge Social Hall and CE Mess Hall, along with a completely gutted and reconstructed Equinunk infirmary, featuring a 1,850 sq. ft. addition allowing for a very comfortable stay in one of six semi-private, media enhanced, air-conditioned rooms. As great as that might sound – we certainly hope that you are only seeing these renovations from afar. However, should you need a little extra TLC, you will be “livin’ it up” under the watchful eye of our tremendous medical staff.

Finally, hot days are becoming so cool with a brand new 6-lane 25-yard, heated pool with a deep-water offset and lights for night swimming! Not to mention a 120-ft. twisting log flume slide and an underwater sound system to boot! With this, we gain fantastic programming possibilities which allow for the perfect balance of free swim down in Union Lake and instruction in our lake and pool. Over the last few years we have watched the Blue Ridge aquatics program transform into something special and we are thrilled to be able to bring the same enthusiasm over to Equinunk next summer.  Bring your floaties boys!

The entire CECBR team is ecstatic about all of the updates for 2011. This will not only continue our long-term promise to become bigger and better, but also allows for the implementation of stronger programming and camper exploration – items that can make every summer at camp even more valuable! We’re very much looking forward to sharing all of the fun with you. After all, as always we are creating memories that will last a lifetime.
